I just wanted to put my 2 cents in on the issue of the value of the
Lightwave Pro disks and LIGHT-ROM. I am the author of LIGHT-ROM and I
subscribe to each and every issue of Lightwave Pro & their companion disks.
Lightwave Pro & their companion disks are an unbeatable resource for
the best in Lightwave info. I would never miss an issue. I'm sure that
John Gross and the writers for Lightwave Pro could easily find a more
productive way to spend their time than to write and publish Lightwave
Pro. It is their love for their work that shows in every issue and for
that I feel lucky that Lightwave Pro exists.
Have you seen the "Planet Studio" publication for 3D Studio? There's
no comparision.
I'm sure that after NAB there will be many more choices for the
Lightwave artist to make on how to reinvest their income into their
business. Lightwave Pro will remain one of my first choices.
As a compromise maybe Avid Publications could license the rights to
publish the material from the Lightwave Pro disks on LIGHT-ROM once they
are a year old in exchange for a royality on each CD ROM sold. This way,
the material could have a "second life".
Thanks for the indulgence,
Michael Meshew
